Introduction: Anemia is a major public health problem in India threatening the life of mother as well as fetus. Because oral iron therapy has its own limitations ,the present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of bolus dose of intramuscular injection of iron with the following aims and objectives. Objectives : 1.To study the effectiveness of new dosage schedule of intramuscular iron administration for mild to moderate grades of anemia. 2.To study the effect of intramuscular iron therapy on maternal and fetal outcome. 3.To compare the safety and efficacy of intramuscular iron given as bolus dose for four weeks with daily oral iron administration.
