Objective : To study the maternal and fetal out come in severe anemia Study period : Aug 2004-Aug 2008 Study design : A retrospective study of 100 patients with severe anemia (< 7gm/dl). This study was conducted in Sri.R.L.Jalappa hospital attached to Sri Devaraja Urs University. Results : The majority of the patients were aged between 20-25 years 54%, most of them were Unbooked 82% and gestational aged between 28-36 weeks in 44% of patients.14% of the women were very severely anemia (<4gm/dl), Microcytic hypochromic peripheral Smear found in 61% of the patients, nutritional deficiency anemia were seen in 86%. Pre-term delivery occurred 44% of cases.
