Objectives : to study the feasibility and effectiveness of intravenous iron sucrose administration for management of anaemia in antenatal and postnatal cases. Methods : 60 cases with hemoglobin levels between 4.4gm% were given 2 amp of Iron sucrose (lOOmg of elemental iron ) and Hb% was estimated by sahli's method on completion of 2nd and 3rd week. Results : of the 60 cases treated with iron sucrose 100mg(2 amp) intravenously , 14(23.3%) cases did not turn up for follow up. Out of the remaining 46 cases, 14 cases came for follow up after 2nd week with a mean rise of Hb% from 7.25gm%to 8.55gm% i.e. a rise of 1.30 gm%.
