Objectives : To study and evaluate the number of internal examinations carried out in patients in labour and to observe its maternal and fetal outcome. Methods : A retrospective study for a period of one year was carried out and the number of internal examinations done on patients in labour [irrespective of parity,age,and other associated factorsjwas noted. Results : 1]The number of internal examinations carried out in primigravida's was more than in multigravida's. 2]Patients in the latent phase of labour were subjected to more number of internal examinations compared to patients in the active stage of labour.
