Objective: To study whether supplementation of calcium and magnesium during pregnancy is beneficial in reducing incidence of pre-eclampsia & IUGR. Methods : Six hundred patients were randomly assigned in three groups. Group A:(200 women) were fgiven Calcium 1000 mg/day Group B:(200) was given Calcium 1000 mg +magnesium 240 mg Group C-(200)Control group did not receive any medication Results : Three group were comparable in maternal characteristics. Preeclampsia occurred in significantly less in group A and group B as compared to control group.Though IUGR occurred less frequently in Gr.A &B as compared to control group,the difference was not very significant.
