Objectives: To determine age-specific bone mineral density (BMD) at various skeletal regions in North Indian reference population. Methods : Two hundred fifty five women, age ranged from 20-69 years were studied. BMD measured by using the Prorliov dual enenrv X-rav absorptiometry (DXA) system at lumbar spine, femoral neck and Ward's triangle. Results : Peak bone mass at lumbar spine and femur was achieved at 30-39 years and 20-29 years of age group respectively. The BMD at lumbar spine was found to be decreasing with age at rate of 0.80% per year from 30-69 years of age.
