Atresia of the uterine cervix is an uncommon Mullerian anomaly, the traditional treatment described is hysterectomy with construction of a neovagina. Of 29 patient of uterine cervical atresia seen over a period from 1997-2008 diagnosis was made on clinical examination and where necessary by examination under anesthesia. Pelvic ultrasonography revealed hematometra. vAge at presentation ranged from 11-17 years (mean 13 yrs.), 1 pt. was 25 years vAssociated anomalies were single/pelvis kidney, spina bifida, congenital heart disease (PDA, ASD), and 2 cases had chromosomal abnormality (Turners mosaic). vAssociated Uterine anomalies were common.
