Objective : To study the safety and efficacy of using transvaginal monofilament polypropelene mesh to prevent the recurrences in pelvic organ prolapse. Methods : 34 cases of pelvic organ prolapse from October 2005 to September 2008 with various compartmental defects were surgically corrected with site specific repair using monofilament polypropelene mesh. Mean estimated blood loss 100 ml. Mean hospital stay 3 days. Oral estrogen were given to all patients one month preoperatively and one month postoperatively. Custom tailored appropriate size mesh were used and precautions were taken to prevent folding of mesh.
