Introduction : One billion women around the world suffer from non-sexually transmitted urogenital infections including urinary tract infection, bacterial vaginosis and yeast vaginitis. Antimicrobial therapy though effective at eradicating these infections, still there is a high incidence of recurrence. Prevention of recurrent urogenital infections (urinary tract infection, bacterial vaginosis, yeast vaginitis) is a possible clinical use of probiotics. There is a good clinical evidence to show that intestinal and urogenital microbial flora have a central role in maintaining both health and well being of humans.
