Background : Varicella Zoster infection in pregnancy is uncommon. When occurs, obstetrician may face management dilemma. Even though obstetric management doesn't change, maternal, fetal and neonatal complications should be kept in mind while managing such cases. Objective: To evaluate maternal and fetal outcome in women with varicella during pregnancy and early puerperium. Methods : This is a prospective analysis of Varicella during pregnancy and early puerperium for four years (May 2004 to May 2008) at Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala. All pregnant women and postnatal mothers in early puerperium with clinical diagnosis of varicella were included. Detailed history was obtained.
