AIM: to evaluate letrozole as first line of treatment for induction of ovulation in polycystic ovarian disease. Materials And Methods : 75 patients in 215 cycles from 2006 January to 2008 January were induced with letrozole 2.5mgms per day between 2' to 5"' days of cycle for 3 to 4 cycles. All patients had follicular tracking and HCG 5000 units were used as ovulatary trigger. Results : the ovulation rate was 84%and pregnancy rate -280/9 and abortion -rate 12.6%. Endometrial. thickness was between 8 to 12 mm in 76 % and 7 nun in 18 % and< 6mm in 6 % of women. 72% of women had monofollicular development.
