Objectives : The most commonly practised obstetric operation (4455 performed in 2007 at Eden Hospital, Medical College Kolkata) lower uterine caesarean section (LUCS) is not always uncomplicated. We decided to conduct a study to analyse relaparotomy following LUCS. Methods : A prospective analytical study was conducted over a period of one year( April 2007-March 2008) at Eden Hospital, Medical College Kolkata on 21 patients undergoing relaparotomy following LUCS. Parameters assessed were age, LUCS indication, mode of anaesthesia used, interval between the primary surgery and relaparotomy, peroperative findings on relap, management given and postoperative outcome.
