The use of methotrexate in chronic ectopic is very effective. Methotrexate is a folic acid analogue that inhibits Dehydrofolate reductase and thus prevents synthesis of DNA. 2In our study methotrexate was administered to 21 patients for treatment of ectopic pregnancy in the dose of 50mg/M. Of these 18 were successfully treated and 2 had methotrexate related side effect, 2 required surgical intervention. Methotrexate treatment in appropriate selected patients prevent operative intervention along with maintenance of fertility in ectopic pregnancy.
