There have been but few studies to compare the effect of closure and non closure in vaginal hysterectomy. Objective: To compare immediate and long term effect of peritonium closure and non closure in vaginal hysterectomy. Method: A prospective study of 100 cases of vaginal hysterectomy was conducted in one of the unit of the department between Jul 2006 and Jul 2008 ft included 50 cases with peritoneum closure and 50 without peritoneum closure. Most of the cases were operated for benign uterine pathology.
