Objectives : To compare the effect of intramuscular 'Butorphanol tartrate' versus 'Tramadol hydrochloride' for labor analgesia with following parameters : 1.Qualitative estimation of pain relief 2.Incidence of operative intervention and its effects on the mode of delivery 3. Perinatal outcome & Side effects of the drugs Material and Methods : prospective randomized trial. Full term primi-gravida in active stage of labor with single, live, term fetus with a vertex presentation & No cephalopelvic disproportion were selected.
