Objectives : To evaluate the neonatal & maternal outcome following forceps delivery. Materials & Methods : This is a retrospective case study review of all the forceps deliveries carried out in the department of obstetrics & Gynaecology , Silchar medical College, Silchar(Assam). During the period of 2 years from 1" September 2006 to 31" August 2008. Result : Total number of forceps deliveries were 872(7.3% cases) out of 11922 deliveries. Neonatal morbidity was 16.21%. Common causes of neonatal morbidity were neonatal asphyxia, cephal haern atom a, retinal haemorrhage & facial palsy. Neonatal mortality was 1.3%. Maternal morbidity was 6%.
