Background: - Women older than 35 years have traditionally been termed as of “advanced maternal age”. These “elderly” or “mature” pregnant women are believed to have higher incidence of obstetric complications and adverse pregnancy outcomes than younger pregnant women. During the past two decades there has been a substantial rise in the number of women starting to have their children relatively late in their reproductive life. This is attributed mainly to a confluence of changing social trends as well as advancement in assisted reproductive technology.
