TMObjectives : The Actim Partus test is a one-step dipstick test for detecting phosphorylated insulin-like growth factor binding protein-I (IGFBP-1) in cervical secretions. IGFBP-1 is synthesized by decidual cells. During labor, when fetal membranes begin to detach from the decidua parietalis, IGFBP-1 leaks into the cervical secretions. This was a pilot study to evaluate the efficacy of the test to predict preterm labor. Methods : 20 patients <37 weeks of gestation with suspected preterm labor were tested and results were correlated with delivery outcome. Patients with vaginal bleeding and ruptured membranes were excluded.
