Introduction: Peripartum hysterectomy is a major operation always performed in the setting of life threatening haemorrhage during or immediately after abdominal or vaginal deliveries. Objective : The main objective was to study the incidence risk factors,indications complications and maternal and perinatal outcomes in emergency periparturn hysterectomies in a tertiary care centre like Jawaharlal Nehru medical college and hospital, Aligarh. Material and method : Retrospective analysis of all 70 cases of periparturn hysterectomies that occurred over a 5-year period from January 2008-September 2008 at Jawaharlal Nehru medical college,Aligarh.
