Objectives : Maternal Death Audit was conducted for 59 cases (2006-2007) by a team consisting of three specialist doctors in Gyaenocology, Social and Preventive Medicine and General Medicine in Guntur District. Methods : Every Maternal death has a story to tell and can provide information on practical ways of addressing the problem. More than one lack women die every year due to pregnancy related complications and 80% of the deaths are preventable and avoidable. In Andhra Pradesh total expected number of maternal deaths to be recorded in one year are 5376. But only 797 are recorded during the year 2006-2007.
