Objective : To prospectively analyse the sensitivity & specificity of the two methods of screening for GDM. Methods : Patients who registered with us for antenatal checkup & delivery from the year Jan 2007 to Dec 2007 were subjected to FBS or GCT. Patients who had fallen in the high risk group had either of these test in the 1st prenatal visit. Patients who had categorized in the moderate risk group had the screening test between 24 - 28 wks of pregnancy. In group I the patients who had FBS > 83 mg/dl were subjected to GTT with 100 gms of glucose. In group II the patients who had GCT value > 130 mg/dl were subjected to GTT.
