Objectives-To study and evaluate the number of internal examinations carried out in patients in labour and to observe its maternal and fetal outcome. Methods-A retrospective study for a period of one year was carried out and the number of internal examinations done on patients in labour [irrespective of parity,age,and other associated factors]was noted. Results-1. The number of internal examinations carried out in primigravida's was more than in multigravida's. 2. Patients in the latent phase of labour were subjected to more number of internal examinations compared to patients in the active stage of labour. 3.
