Incidence of obesity is on the rise in the developing countries. In urban population, the incidence of obesity in adults was found to be as high as 37.5%. Objectives : To assess the antenatal, intrapartum, fetal complications and perinatal outcome in pregnant women with high BMI. Methods : This study is a prospective non randomized descriptive study conducted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of KIMS in Narketpally from June 2007 to June 2008 Complications during pregnancy, labour, puerperium to be studied in 50 pregnant women with high BMI in first trimester and compared with 50 pregnant women with normal BMI.
