Introduction: Each year many people die or are seriously disabled as a result of trauma. Trauma is a major health problem in the world today. In industrialized countries, trauma is the leading cause of death in persons younger than 40 years. In terms of overall cause of death, trauma ranks third. Trauma cases are more amenable to treatment than cancer, HIV, stroke, and heart diseases, still less interest or funding is spent to research or support trauma victims. Even in developing countries like ours trauma is the prime killer of the most productive earners, vehicular accidents taking the heaviest toll.
