The Global water resources will be influenced because of the change in hydrological cycle under the stipulated climate change. In India, the rainfall is stipulated to increase by 8-10 % but with less no. of rainy days, leading to imbalance of ground water resources in the different parts of the country. The total ground water development till 2004 is 231 BCM & there is a need to develop the balance of 201.6 BCM irrespective of its consequences to mitigate the demand to maintain food security & to meet demand of other user sectors.
