Objectives : To compare the efficacy and safety of 50 ug vaginal misoprostol with vaginal application of dinoprostone gel in induction of labour. Methods: Four hundred women at term gestation, with Bishop score less than or equal to 4 , with various indications for induction of labour were randomly allotted to application of 50 ug misoprostol vaginally 6 hourly (maximum 3 doses) , or posterior vaginal fornix application of 0.5 mg PGE2 gel (max 3 doses, 6 hours apart); or till the patient went into active labour.
