From the abstract

The seed spices crops coriander, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, ajowan, dill and nigella are popularly called as the arid land spices. These spices are grown largely in the semi-arid to arid zone covering major area in Rajasthan and Gujarat states, contributing to the extent of 72% of the total Indian seed spices production. Irrigation water is the limiting factor in arid to semi-arid region. These seed spice crops are mostly cultivated in the limited available water conditions. Therefore it becomes imperative that water use efficiency is improved through use of water saving irrigation methods.
