Background: Passage of meconium is seen in 7-22% of term live births. Meconium aspiration syndrome has been reported in 7-30% of these deliveries. Meconium has been associated with increased perinatal morbidity and mortality. The case fatality rate of meconium aspiration is reported to range from 2-40%. This highlights the various modalities to treat and prevent meconium aspiration. Objective: This study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of amnioinfusion in cases of thick meconiurn stained liquor, 1.In reducing the perinatal morbidity associated with thick meconium. 2.Decreasing operative intervention for fetal distress.
