Kavaratti island of Lakshadweep archipelago is densely populated island of India. Aquifers of the coral island occurs as small thin lens, which is significantly, influenced by the stresses such as tides and groundwater abstraction. The problem of getting this meager resource of fresh groundwater sustained for longer time becomes more difficult tasks, particularly on such tiny atoll. It is vulnerable to seawater intrusion due to various stresses such as pumping, tide, cyclone, draught, etc. Purpose the study is to assess the optimum groundwater abstraction on such island that becomes imperative in order to develop sustainable management scheme.
