In order to mitigate the drinking water needs of Gangakhed town, having a population more than 40000 (2001 census) Govt of Maharashtra has requested to pinpoint the site for construction of bore well. Accordingly, detailed hydrogeological investigations along with geophysical surveys were carried out. The area is underlain by Quaternary alluvium and Deccan traps (Basalt). The depth to water level in the area varies between 5 to 10 meter below ground level (mbgl) and 4 to 5 m bgl during pre and post monsoon season respectively and long-term water level trend at Gangakhed station (1995-2004) show a falling trend of 0.002 m/year and a rising trend of 0.198 m/yr during pre and post-monsoon…
