Introduction: Maternal mortality is a vital Index of the effectiveness of obstetric services prevailing in country. Study of maternal deaths periodically is not only an academic exercise, but provides considerable help and guidelines for planning stratelgies for improving maternal health and reducing MMR because majority of these deaths are preventable. Objective : The present series "Prospective Study of Maternal Mortality" was conducted during the year 2001-2008 in the tertiary referral hospital,. GMH Rewa. This study was conducted to compare, emphasize and observe the change in pattern and etiological factors responsible for maternal death.
