Prevention of PPH involves active management of 3rd stage of labour and identification of high risk pregnancies such as prolonged labour , pre eclamapsia , previous history of PPH and multiple pregnancies. Active management evalued includes administration of uterotonic drugs, controlled cord traction and uterine massage . If patient continues to bleed , transfer to tertiary Hospital . Further management includes B lych sutures , step wise devascularization surgery, uterine artery embolisation , interal iliac artery ligation & Hysterectomy.
