Background: General anesthesia (GA) is the standard anesthesia for patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy (MRM) for breast cancer. Cervical epidural anesthesia (CEA) is practiced less often because of its reported complications. The pros and cons of CEA are as follows: ADVANTAGES_ _Economical _ Good sensory block for raising the upper skin flaps up to the clavicle and a level III axillary dissection (reaching above and medial to the pectoralis minor muscle) completely pain free during MRM for breast cancer _ Stable perioperative cardiovascular and respiratory status _ Remarkable postoperative recovery, with no additional requirement for analgesia _ Low perioperative morbidity, with…
