Several techniques have been used in the past to attenuate the cardio-vascular stress response to Laryngoscopy and Intubation but none could gain popularity because of their variable results and side effects. Recently, Fassoulaki et al (2006) for the first time investigated the effect of Gabapentin on changes in Blood Pressure and heart rate during Laryngoscopy and Intubation. We designed this double blind randomized control trial to investigate the effect of two different doses (600mg & 900 mg) of Gabapentin on changes in heart rate and Blood Pressure observed during Laryngoscopy and Intubation.
