Objective(s) : To determine the incidence of hypothyroidisn universal or selective high risk group screening. Method(s) : Serum TSH was measured in 500 pregnant women on their first antenatal visit. Elevated S.TSH levels were followed by FT3, FT4 and TPO-Ab testing. High risk group included 131 women and low risk group included 369 women. Result(s) : Incidence of hypothyroidism in pregnancy was 3.2%. The incidence of raised TSH was higher in the high risk group (8.4% in high risk groups v/s 1.36% in low risk group RR 6.20, p < .001). Five of 16 hypothyroid women with raised TSH were in low risk group.
